Aeolian Harp App Reviews

Well...

I dont know what some other people were expecting, but I love this app. The different visual styles are fun, especially in combination with playing music in a variety of fun ways. Certainly worth the money. ^_^

Its worth it...

I was reluctant to buy this app because of some of the poorer reviews, but I took the risk, and it totally paid off! There are a few bits and things that could be improved, but mostly all I can say is WOW!!!! Im impressed......

Pretty cool....

I Liked it ok.... But I dont think it is worth $2. I spent 30 min. when I fist got it, but quickly got bored.

Evocative

A wonderful example of how a new medium can give rise to new ways to make music. Right away it gives you pleasing visuals and sounds. But, if you play a music instrument, you know that you have to practice to get better. The longer you spend improvising with this program, the more interesting the results. Like any musical instrument, it has limitations and possibilities which reveal themselves only over the passage of time. Many thanks to the creators of this app for a truly imaginative addition to the world of music.

Aeolian Harp

Great app! I hope to see more music applications like this one. This is an example of how the iPad could really take off as a unique musical instrument. The sounds are spot on, and the motion sensitivity is a great touch. I also like the simple menu. In general, a very smart, well-designed program.

This is FUN!

This is not fir pedantic control freaks. This is for playing like a child with the elements of nature. The more open-hearted you are, the more youll enjoy this remarkable instrument. Again, it is not a mind/ego tool. It is finger painting with music by your heart/soul.

Excellent

This app is incredibly cool.

Nice idea...

...but really needs a way to adjust lower left and lower right levels as the are banked extreme lower left and lower right. Ear fatigue comes pretty quickly. The smoke, or whatever its supposed to be, gets old fast and would prefer an option for just the strings to stay lit. The sounds are nice and touch is very responsive. I run mine through a Lexicon MPX 1.

a stunning app

Brilliantly beautiful to eye and ear. And the tech support is also great. We discovered together that you have to keep the notification and system button on (formerly the screen rotation lock) or you wont get any sound. (Aeolian Harp is different in this respect from other music apps like Bloom.) Aeolian Harp will provide hours of enchantment.

Beautiful

I love this app, its so beautiful and easy to use. The only recommendation Id have for future updates is to add a record option to save your creations.

Wonderful but...

It aggravates me when Im playing a certain harp and I accidentally press the name of the harp and it brings me back to the four harps but other than that I love it and a recording feature would be nice :)

Beautiful Fantastic

This is fantastic music, truel celestial fun. Only, please update to add a SCREEN LOCK OPTION so the instruments dont always come up while playing. Thanks!

Bad Upgrade

Much harder to change modes and instruments. Minimal stars until thats fixed. (Fun though, when you get it to work right...)

Fun!

It is colorful and fun, and works well. Easy to jump into, but surprisingly deep. Worth $2 for sure!

Great Upgrades

I originally purchased the first version and was disappointed by the sound. But the upgraded instrument tones are now teriffic! Tons of adjustments allow you go achieve just about anything you desire in both sound and sight.

Love it!

I really enjoy this app and find myself turning to it almost daily to create melodies. There are times that I wish I could record and would love to see that as an option in a future update. Highly recommend this to anyone.

Worth the last 2 bucks in the iTunes account

played for about 5 minutes: I never thought I could play a music instrument before I saw this crutch (v1.3.1). dat is awesome (in sennheiser 280 headphones anyway)

Amazingly addictive app

Doubtless will be used as music therapy. Has kept me out of trouble for the last 3 hours. Maybe would be good to have a wi fi direct to printer option also. Beautiful piece of architecture. Thank you from a musician!

Great for autistic and 2e kids

Love your app! I have bought 600+ apps (conservatively), and I use this one the most when I want to relax. I have an entire wall of the art that has been created from the app, and have had people ask about how I was able to come up with such gorgeous digital art, when they know I have no visual art ability. ;-) I always take their iPads away from them and find the harp, and tell them "mystery solved!" I also use the app to teach rudimentary music theory to my autistic and 2e (twice exceptional) students. They tend to love everything about the app, and even if they dont use it to learn much at the time, it helps calm them if they become agitated during a lesson. While I am a rotten visual artist, i am a pretty decent musician and recording artist with multiple releases (most of them are even in the iTunes store, and I have a couple of Grammy nominations under my belt as an indie artist) ,and I run my own label for other artists as well. Though I can use multiple means of recording the harp into a DAW, it would be SO great if this app had a recording function! Maybe I am just missing it, but I have scoured the manual and worked on the app so much, I feel as though I would have run into it by now. Thanks for the great app, and for allowing for feedback.

Great!

This is an awesome app. It is very therapeutic to play around with. I am a trained musician, but you dont need to be one to enjoy this app. I love its simplicity. Way to go!
